I Leave You Peace
On Wednesday this week, the Damascus Community celebrated the Mass where they learnt about 'peace'. Father Jithin talked about his experience as a child, where he never used to like venturing out into the dark night by himself. He would seek out his mother or sister's company when going out at night. Having someone with you is very helpful when you are afraid of something.
This is very much what Jesus was saying when he spoke to his disciples about eventually leaving them. He said, "I leave you peace". He wanted them to consider that he would always be with them in good times and bad. We know that the people Jesus had spent a lot of time with were very afraid when he died. They were afraid of persecution and that they would be hunted down for being his followers.
When we know someone has our back, in challenging and uncertain times, we can find comfort in knowing that, and it gives us a sense of peace. Just knowing that someone is thinking of you during these times brings us peace too.
Next Mass
The Ephesus (Year 3) and Bethany (Year 4) Communities will combine to celebrate the Mass on Wednesday 20th November, 9:30am.
The theme of their Mass will be 'One With Jesus' where they have been learning about the scripture piece on the 'vine'. Jesus tells his followers that He is like the vine and we are the branches that bear fruit.
