MECS Magazine
This week the youngest child in your family will receive our 2024 MECS magazine to share with your family. This year, if you have a child in Prep or Year 12 they will also receive a copy, just for them. This is to celebrate their first and last year of school. We hope you enjoy reading through the MECS magazine and reflecting on the amazing year we have had.

Congratulations to our Year 12 School Captains for 2025!
Noah, Irin & Grace all strongly exemplify the values of MECS, are kind and inclusive of their peers, eager to see our school thrive and are passionate followers of Jesus.
We're looking forward to seeing them work together next year, be role models to younger students across the school and build on their already outstanding leadership skills.
Join us in congratulating Noah, Irin & Grace!
Here is what was said in the assembly where they were announced:
Moving into next year we are going to articulate these qualities as 7 key threads or characteristics that we value at MECS because they exemplify what it means to be made in the image of God. You had a sneak peek of these in the Art competition for those that entered. Some of them are:
- Welcoming advocate
- Truth discerner
- Community builder
- Justice seeker
Irin has a heart for service and a passion for building connections. She expressed in her interview that God gives each of us unique gifts, and she recognises her own gift of connecting with different people. With this in mind, she’s eager to use her gifts to serve others, ensuring that every student feels seen, supported, and welcomed. She is looking forward to the opportunity to be a bridge between students and staff, foster communication and understanding.
Inspired by the impactful work of Afia in the previous year, she is keen to bring her own unique cultural perspective to the role of school captain. She desires to create a community where everyone feels valued, and she is committed to making a difference in the lives of those around her. We are excited to see how her passion and gifts will shape the year ahead.
Grace is a compassionate and thoughtful leader who brings a fresh perspective to our school community. Having come from a larger school, she expressed that her experience at MECS completely changed her perspective on schooling and the importance of community. She is eager to give back and play a leadership role, particularly in supporting the younger year levels. She believes that each person is here for a reason, and she feels that God has placed her in this school to lead, encourage, and inspire others.
Her faith journey is a meaningful part of her life—her parents always allowed her to make her own decision about her faith to discern the truth and recent events in her life have deepened her own personal faith.
Staff have already noticed her servant-heart in different situations where others have needed someone to advocate for them, showing her natural inclination to support and serve others. With her strong leadership qualities, faith, and genuine care for others, she is well-equipped to be a positive influence on the school community. We are excited to see how she will continue to grow and lead.
Noah is a passionate and dedicated individual who is eager to step into this leadership role to serve his school community. He has a natural love for connecting with people, whether it's with his peers or younger students, and he’s excited about the opportunity to bridge the gap between different age groups. He’s actively involved in many areas of school life, from attending sporting events to participating in assemblies, where he is often part of the Worship Band.
His faith journey is a core part of who he is. As a strong Christian, he serves with a heart to guide others, whether in worship or in his role at church. He believes in representing the school with integrity and pride, and he wants to show off the school’s strengths to others. He wants to lead with humility and faith and we are excited to see how his leadership will positively impact our school community.
