Year 2/3
Grade 2/3 News
This past fortnight has flown by…yet another productive and enjoyable fortnight in the Grade 2/3 class!
Well done to all students on your fantastic preparation for, and participation in, our school sports day today-so heartwarming to witness your participation, enthusiasm and team spirit!
In our Maths sessions we have been learning about directions. We really enjoy playing coordinate noughts and crosses and loved creating our own treasure maps in the school yard. Looking forward to swapping these over to follow and find the treasure!
As part of our Well Being program, we have been learning about the importance of identity, personal interests and strengths and equality. We have had some very thoughtful discussions.
Our learning within our Inquiry topic “What makes our home unique?” has moved onto learning about the rich history of our area including our First Nations people, gold rush times and the evolution of Castlemaine and surrounds over time as well as the differences between urban and rural areas. We enjoyed making our own nature bracelets outside in a similar way to our First Nations people. We also enjoyed listening to and analyzing a dream time story as part of a literacy session this week.
Students have moved onto our second writing unit for the term-persuasive texts. We have enjoyed engaging in some fun activities to help us learn about the different features of persuasive texts so that we can write our own strong, persuasive texts.
This week we commenced our second RE topic for the term, Advent-a beautiful time of preparation in the lead up to Christmas.
Enjoy the weekend!
