Wellbeing
Hi St Mary's,
Firstly, I wanted to mention that the Grade 4, 5 and 6 camp was a great experience. It was a pleasure to see the student's leadership qualities in a different setting. I was also very impressed with some of our emerging leaders from grade 4 and 5. Some of the other qualities that shone were empathy, inclusion and getting to sleep.....not! The students did a pretty good job of getting enough sleep with a few exceptions. Overall there were many highlights and funny moments.
I have also started working with the Grade 6 cohort around cyber safety and transitioning to high school next year. I found the session very informative and some really important information was presented. We have another two sessions to go and I think as teachers and parents that it is paramount to our students being successful humans that the are able to understand and manage being online to be have good mental health. The e-safety commissioner website has some good resources to refer to. I think its easy to sometimes be a bit lax in this area and being in touch with our kids and what they're up to online can make all the difference. Open communication lines and checking in are really important.
I hope everyone has a great week ahead.
Regards,
Mark O'Sullivan
