Faith Matters
at St Francis Xavier School
Dear St Francis Xavier Families,
We are experiencing a very busy time at school and I've no doubt you are finding the same at home. Amid all the end of year activities and preparations for Christmas we have been pausing to remind ourselves about the true meaning of this Advent season. The Year 6 Faith in Action Leaders have been facilitating our Wednesday Morning Whole School Prayer sessions enabling us to stop, reflect, pray and remember what this time is really all about. During Advent, we contemplate the hope, peace, joy and love that comes with the birth of Christ. And, most importantly, consider how we can enact this in our lives and for others. Our final Whole School Prayer for 2024 will be next Wednesday, 11th December at 8:50am in the Red Centre. Please join us if you can.
May I take this opportunity to thank you for the support shown to our staff and to me personally throughout the year. There have been kind gestures, words of thanks and encouragement from so many of you. Please know these have genuinely meant a great deal. We try so hard to remind and model to our students the importance of being respectful, positive and appreciative and it's heartening to experience your efforts in reinforcing this in your communication with us.
ST FRANCIS XAVIER FEAST DAY
Thank you to the families who were able to attend our feast day mass on Tuesday. The Preps led us so beautifully as we acknowledged our patron saint, the school and community. The children celebrated the day with special activities after recess.
CHRISTMAS VIGIL MASS - NATIVITY VOLUNTEERS
The Christmas Vigil Mass will be held on Tuesday, 24th December at 6:30pm in the church. Fr Chinua has invited our children to perform the Gospel which is a re-enactment of the Nativity. I am seeking volunteers to be angels, shepherds, Mary, Joseph, etc.
If your child is interested in participating please complete the form sent home yesterday and return it to school no later than Tuesday, 10th December.
END OF SCHOOL YEAR MASS
Our End of School Year 'Gratitude' Mass will be on the final day of classes, Tuesday, December 17th, in the church at 1:45pm. This is a mass Fr Chinua facilitates just for our school. It's a lovely opportunity to give thanks for our blessings throughout the 2024 year.
If you're able to join us please feel free to sit with your child's class.
God's blessings to you all for the Christmas season and 2025.
