Dear Parents and Carers,
On walking around our attractive school grounds, it’s great to see the further enhancements that have been made with the new planting at the rear of our school. The recent replanting and maintenance of this area has created a lovely area for our students, especially the area near our new seating area. Thank-you again to the many parents who donate or pay their school contributions, as it’s with this money, that we continue to create an inviting play area for all our children.
I’m very excited to welcome our new Foundation 2025 students to our school tomorrow for their second transition session. Approximately 59 students and parents were warmly welcomed two weeks ago by staff and our Year 6 students. For next year, there will be 21 Foundation students who already have a sibling at our school and over 35 new families starting their primary educational journey with us. We thank our current foundation families for supplying the morning tea for the transition days.
Whilst parents are engaged in informative sessions, about our school, our new Foundation students have their own introduction to school life with a range of fun and engaging activities led by our teachers and supported by our Grade 6 Students.
These sessions are designed to get to know our new students and parents, to make the first steps of their educational journey as smooth as possible, as well as commencing an important partnership to support their child/children.
On Monday, we celebrated Remembrance Day, which was a day for us to remember those who have served and those who have died in all wars and peacekeeping operations. Remembrance Day marks the date in 1918 when the First World War came to an end. It is officially observed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month each year to remember people’s service and sacrifice.
Thank- you to the amazing school leaders and Ms. Bryon, who led the assembly and did a fantastic job. They talked about the importance of Remembrance Day, lowered the flags to half mast, laid a wreath which was followed by a recording of The Last Post. We also observed one minute of silence and heard a special guest speaker. As a school leader, I am extremely proud of our observance of these very important dates and the way our leaders lead these special assemblies.
Please be aware that we have had reports that a licensed snake ‘catcher’ had been called out to several sightings in the Toorak area, including the Brookville Kindergarten area.
With a clearer understanding of student numbers, the school’s class structure, and workforce profile can be refined. The work involved in these aspects of planning for 2025, at our school, move through prioritizing and addressing every aspect relating to or impacting upon school organisation and overall provision and productivity. Every action needs to support the core business, purpose, and values of the school, with decisions contributing to providing the best possible learning environment for every student at the school in 2025. Class structures and staffing will be shared with the community on the 10th December at our whole school transition day.
Please review our dates, further in the newsletter, so that we see you at key events.
Kind regards,
Sharon Wildermuth
