Parents and Friends Association

Last Day of the Year! Picnic and icy treats.

Friday 20th is (as you hopefully already know) the last day of the school year for 2024. All families are welcome to join the PFA on the school oval for end-of-year ice creams and zooper doopers on sale to celebrate the end of another big year! Bring a light picnic spread if you want, and make a celebration of it! Bring gold coins if you can (I imagine we’ll have eftpos facilities there, but who knows what the phone reception gods will bring us on the day!), and we’ll fill your kids up with all the unnatural flavours of frozen treats available in the world! What better way to end the year?

Christmas Raffle

The fabulous Christmas Raffle has been drawn! Winners will be announced at assembly next week. Huge thanks to Krista for being the raffle-wrangler again this year. Big thanks to all those who purchased tickets this year! The raffle has raised a massive $1078 to go towards various projects around the school.

Mango Drive

Another successful Mango Drive done and dusted! All mangoes were picked up, with only minor hiccups. The staff room smelled very tropical for a couple of days, as 3 pallet-loads of mangoes were successfully dispersed to their happy buyers - 188 boxes of mangoes in total! Thanks to Andy for organising the whole shebang, and Julie, Mikkel, Natalie, Renton, Anna and Sarah for helping to get the mangoes from the staff room to the hands of their new owners.

Class Representatives

Who wants to be a Class Rep next year?! Now that the students have been allocated to their classes for 2025, we are seeking a Parent Class Representative for each of the 16 classes.

The Class Rep collects contact details for and distributes their 'opt-in' class list, sets up the class WhatsApp group, organises a social get-together from time to time (play at the park, coffee etc.), and helps with communication across our parent community. Most of it can be done easily from your phone / computer, and it's a great way to get to know families at our school, as well as be a part of an awesome Class Rep team!

If this sounds like something you would like to assist with, please contact Anna (Class Rep Liaison) at wpscrl@gmail.com or on 0407 830 820 and let her know which class(es) your child(ren) is/are in. Thanks!

Interested in joining the PFA?

The Parents and Friends Association is a committee of volunteers who organise events and fundraisers throughout the year, with the aim of supporting the school financially through fundraising (e.g. the Mango drive and the Tesselaar bulb drive earlier this year), and building community among the students and parents through various social events (e.g. Trivia night/disco last term, and the Mothers’ and Fathers’ day breakfasts). We also coordinate the WhatsApp class groups through the year.

As we rapidly approach the end of the year, it’s worth noting that some of this year’s members will be moving on as their children leave the school. That means we are looking for fresh volunteers to take on the various roles. People can join the PFA throughout the year - all it really takes is some enthusiasm, and a willingness to pitch in and help!

Early in the new year (usually in March), the PFA will hold an AGM, where all current positions are declared vacant and new office-bearers are elected. If you’re interested in knowing more, drop an email to us at wpspfa@gmail.com. You’re always welcome to come along to a meeting and observe!
