TERM 3 WEEK 2 2025

Welcome Back to Term 3!

We’re thrilled to welcome everyone back to school for what promises to be another exciting and productive term. We hope all families enjoyed a restful holiday break and are returning refreshed and ready for the term ahead.

A special welcome to all of our new families joining the LNPS community this term, especially our second cohort of Mid-Year Receptions. We’re delighted to have you with us!

It’s been wonderful to see students settle so quickly and confidently back into their learning routines. We’re looking forward to a term filled with growth, learning, and achievement.

NAPLAN Results – Outstanding Achievement

NAPLAN reports for Years 3 and 5 have been sent home today, and we’re proud to share that LNPS students have performed exceptionally well, achieving results in the ‘Strong’ proficiency band.

Our teachers and leaders are now using this valuable data to guide planning, set goals, and celebrate student growth.

If you have any questions about your child’s NAPLAN report, please don’t hesitate to contact the Leadership Team.

Edsmart

We’re excited to share that EdSmart is now being used at our school to help manage permissions and payments for excursions and incursions. This platform is part of our broader implementation of the Education Management System (EMS) and aims to streamline processes for both families and staff.

What is EdSmart?

EdSmart is a Department for Education (DfE) platform designed to simplify school-related administration. It allows schools to:

  • Collect, store and follow up on parental permissions electronically

  • Link permission forms with payments in one convenient process

  • Maintain secure digital records for each student

An initial overview of EdSmart was emailed to families during the school holidays, including a link for further information.

Why We're Using It

While not mandatory, our school’s use of EdSmart is a decision made by Leadership and our Business Manager, based on:

  • Positive feedback from other schools

  • Alignment with DfE guidelines

  • Administrative efficiency

  • Cost-effectiveness

  • Improved convenience for families

A key benefit is the reduction of manual paperwork and follow-up time. Permission forms and payments are now connected you won’t be able to submit permission without payment. However, both can be completed anytime before the due date of the event.

Functionality Challenges

As with any new system, some issues have arisen during implementation. We’ve identified and are currently reporting these concerns to the DfE Finance Team, including:

  • No option for flexible payment plans
  • Inability to save credit card details
  • Card transaction fees (now being absorbed by the school)
  • No option to decline permission if a student is going to be absent

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work with DfE to improve the experience for all families.

What's Next?

While EdSmart is now in place for excursion and incursion permissions and payments, other processes will remain unchanged for now:

  • Camps, school fees, and lunch orders will continue to be managed through QKR

  • As the EdSmart platform improves, we may consider phasing out QKR for some services in the future

Need Help?

If you need support using EdSmart or assistance with any payments, please contact the Front Office. We’re always happy to work with families to find the best solution.

Thank you for your continued support as we transition to more efficient systems that benefit our whole school community.
