Term 3, 2025 Week 3

What's Happening this Week at Ridgeview:

Wednesday – Trip to WaitākereThis Wednesday we are heading to Waitākere! Please ensure students come prepared with:

  • Good walking shoes
  • A raincoat
  • A water bottle
  • A healthy packed lunch

During this trip, students will be exploring sustainability within the forest and learning how plants contribute to a sustainable environment. This trip is an important part of our sustainability programme.

Dance Team Our dance team is working hard to prepare for their performance at the Bruce Mason Centre on Tuesday 12 August. If you haven’t got your tickets yet, please make sure you do so as soon as possible – it’s going to be an amazing show!

Prison Connection

Earlier this term, I had the opportunity to tour the prison and learn more about the different programmes they are running, as well as explore ways we can work together as a community.

The prison shared that they are looking at increasing their capacity, but they do not believe this will have any impact on our local school. We are in a unique position to have the prison as part of our local community, and it forms an interesting and distinctive part of the Ridgeview story.

Over time, we have built a positive relationship with the prison, and they have shown a commitment to supporting us and keeping communication open.

The prison will be holding a community consultation on Monday 12 August. If you have any questions for them, this will be a great opportunity to attend and learn more.

🌟 Sponsor Shout-Out 🌟

Keeping Warm This Winter

Our previous Principal, Rachael Kemball, has kindly donated enough knitted beanies for every child in the school. We are so grateful for this generous and thoughtful gift, helping to ensure each student is kept warm this winter.

Some of our children don’t seem to feel the cold — this is often due to their thermoregulatory system not being fully developed. Please help us by making sure your child comes to school wearing shoes and their school jumper.

Students are welcome to wear a long-sleeve blue or black shirt underneath their uniform if extra warmth is needed.

Music Lessons at School

Egg-citing News from the Chicken Coop! 🐔🥚Our beautiful chickens have started laying, and we are thrilled to see them doing so well! The students are very excited to collect the eggs, and this week we’ll be using them to make scrambled eggs for Breakfast Club.

If you’re enjoying our lovely school grounds over the weekend, please help us keep the excitement alive for the kids by leaving the eggs in the coop – they’re looking forward to gathering them themselves.
