From the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends,

I hope you and your families had a wonderful school holiday break and have settled back into the routines of school with a minimum of fuss. This term, while short, promises to be an exciting one with lots of sport, school swimming, Grade 5 camp, and our production of Moana Jnr. Our students work incredibly hard on their learning, and these extracurricular activities are a great opportunity for them to shine in other ways. We look forward to seeing their smiles throughout the term.

Compass Events – Stay Informed

To help families stay informed and organised, we use Compass Events to share important information about upcoming excursions, incursions, and school activities.

We strongly encourage all families to carefully read each Compass Event notification, as it contains essential details such as:

  • Event times
  • Transport arrangements
  • Clothing and uniform requirements
  • Food and drink needs

Compass is the central place to find out everything you need to know about school events. It is critical that families read this information to ensure students are well-prepared and events run smoothly.

Reading the Compass Event also means that if parents or carers wish to come along and watch an event, they have all the details they need to do so.

Prep Enrolment Acceptance for 2026

We are thrilled to be confirming Prep enrolments for 2026. All families who submitted an application have now received an offer of placement and information about next steps.

We kindly ask families to respond to their offer as soon as practical, as this enables us to begin planning for staffing, transitions, and learning programs for next year.

We’re excited to welcome a new group of learners into the Lysterfield community!

School Values on Display – Interschool Sport

Our students continue to live out our school values through sport, and last week’s basketball and netball competitions offered powerful examples of empathy, leadership, and character.

At basketball, both the boys' and girls' teams made the decision—without being asked—to support each other by watching and cheering when they weren’t playing. Their encouragement and team spirit showed true Teamwork and Community, and made everyone feel valued and connected.

In one of the netball matches, our girls were winning comfortably. Rather than focusing solely on the scoreboard, they chose to demonstrate Kindness and Respect by making subtle mistakes to give the opposing team opportunities to score. The final result was 22–1, but it was their empathy that stood out.

Winning feels good, but the feeling you get from being kind, showing compassion, and lifting others up lasts even longer. These moments show us that our values aren’t just words on a wall, they’re lived experiences that help shape who we are.
