Principal's Message

Dear Families,

We are finally nearing the end of the building repairs. The new fence along Huntingdale Road has been installed and the shade sails are in. The carpet in the library has been replaced and the hall is almost complete. We look forward to having all the storm damage work completed soon.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Indovino family on the passing of Ros' mother Gina. Our thoughts, prayers and love are with the family at this extremely difficult time.

In the Gospel for this coming Sunday (Luke12:49-54), Jesus gives us an outline of the work he has come to do and how he will suffer. He tells how this will cause division as some will accept his message and others will oppose it.

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘I have come to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were blazing already! There is a baptism I must still receive, and how great is my distress till it is over!

‘Do you suppose that I am here to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on a household of five will be divided: three against two and two against three; the father divided against the son, son against father, mother against daughter, daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.’ (Luke 12:49–53)

Our Challenge:

Jesus invites us to live in peace. He also calls us to make good choices and do what is right.

Following Jesus might be hard sometimes, but making good choices helps us be closer to God and have peaceful hearts and minds.

Lord Jesus, we thank you for the fire of your love

that you have ignited in our hearts.

Help us to carry that fire into the world,

to be your witnesses,

and to bring your love and truth to all those we encounter.

Grant us the strength to face the challenges that come with following you, and the wisdom to navigate the divisions that may arise.

May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Amen.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Friday, August 15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This Feast is celebrated every year on August 15th. It is one of the Holy Days of Obligation, except if it falls on a Saturday or Monday whereby the obligation to attend Mass is nullified.

This Feast commemorates our Holy Mother, having completed her course of earthly life was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.  Mary, the Mother of Jesus and of our Church, cooperated in God’s plan with complete faith and trust.

Mary is a sign of hope and mercy for us all. Mary’s model of discipleship gives us an example of the role our faith should take in our lives. If we centre our lives on the presence of God, we are more readily able to recognise the call of God in our everyday activities.

Mary’s assumption into heaven is a reminder to us that God has a plan and purpose for each of us.

Let us pray that Mary will be the source of inspiration in our lives.

God of all goodness,

We rejoice and are glad because Mary

shares in the glory of heaven with you.

May, we be nourished by

our sharing in your life and love,

So that we may live

with the same faith in you as Mary did.

We make this prayer in your name.

Amen.

COHR Beanies Have Arrived!

Don't forget that you can get one of our new COHR beanies from the office for only $20. They are proving to be very popular, especially for those cold mornings.

Swimming - help needed!

We are looking forward to our swimming program starting on Monday. We still require parent helpers to travel on the bus with each class. There are some classes who don't have enough helpers for each day. If you can help we would love for you to fill in your availability via school interviews. The School Interview Code is: mvegr

Class teachers will be in touch to let you know if and when your help is required.
