Book Fair

Be sure to visit our School Book Fair next week!  

Our book fair was a huge success last year and we’re hoping to repeat the fun! There will be hundreds of Scholastic books to choose from, including titles from only $5 each!

For our opening morning on Tuesday 19th – we’ll have Darren, our Coffee Man with a Van, on the basketball court from 8:20am – 9.00am - if you would like to purchase a much needed morning coffee! 

This event is a fantastic opportunity to explore a wide selection of books for children and encouraging a love of reading. Our school also benefits from every book sale so we can continue to stock our library with the latest great reads!

Fair Schedule:

• Grand Opening - Tuesday 19th August - 8:30am - 9.00am & 3:15 - 3:45pm
• Wednesday 20th August – 8:30am - 9.00am & 3:15 - 3:45pm
• Thursday 21st August – 8:30am - 9.00am & 3:15 - 3:45pm
• Friday 22nd August – 8:30am - 9.00am & 3:15 - 3:45pm

Students will have an opportunity to visit the Book Fair during their class time. They will browse the items and complete a ‘wishlist’ to bring home to you. You can then edit their selections and pay online using a QR code. Students then return with their ‘prepaid wishlist’ to collect their books the next day. 

Students can also pay with cash during the before and after school slots.

The Book Fair will be in the same location as last year - Social Club (Rm 10) - the classroom down near the oval (enter from the ramp next to the basketball court).

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club runs every morning and is staffed by one of our amazing Education Support members. 

We’re looking for enthusiastic and caring volunteers to help out with our school’s Breakfast Club, just one morning per week for 20 minutes. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or community member, your support can make a big difference in giving our students a positive, nourishing start to their day. With more support we can start to look at broadening the range of breakfast options for students so that they can start the day with a healthy full belly!

Bark Land Donations

Bark Land is looking a bit bare! The purpose of this area is to allow students to imagine and create their own fun activities using a range of sustainable and recycled materials.

We are always looking to update items for this space so we are reaching out to you to ask for any donations that would be suitable for primary school students to build/create/play with. We are also putting the call out to local businesses so hopefully we can add some really cool items to this space. 

Examples of materials could be;

-          Plastic milk crates

-          Plastic guttering

-          Cable drums

-          Giant rope

-          Shade cloth

-          Plastic barrels

-          Large tyres

-          Any other items that may be safe and suitable

Supported Learning 

Supported Learning is a small-group program designed to support students in developing communication skills, conflict resolution and regulation strategies, and general life skills. The group will be facilitated by our Wellbeing Leader and Physical Education Teacher to ensure a structured and supportive environment for skill-building.

The purpose and benefits of this group include:

• Enhanced social connection by fostering friendships and cooperative interactions.
• Develop effective communication skills, including turn-taking, active listening, and expressing thoughts appropriately.
• Teach conflict resolution strategies, helping students navigate disagreements respectfully.
• Strengthen self-awareness and self-regulation to support emotional wellbeing.
• Build an understanding of social norms and expected behaviours in different settings.

Structure of the Program

• The sessions will take place weekly during school hours.
• Each session will include a mix of structured activities, discussions, and role-playing exercises to practice social interactions in a safe environment.

Students have been working really well together completing important maintenance and small building works around the school. All have really enjoyed it and have taken great pride in their work. 

Local Artwork Display

Grade 3 student Rachael Donovan has one of her artworks on display at local coffee shop South America Coffee Co. on Lt. Malop Street in the Geelong CBD. Be sure to check it out if you are in town. Well done Rachael!

Year 3/4 Camp to Cave Hill Creek – Important Information

We are excited to share details about the upcoming Year 3/4 overnight camp to Cave Hill Creek! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to build independence, develop friendships, and participate in fun, outdoor learning experiences.

Camp Dates: 

The camp will take place during Term 4 – Monday 3rd to Tuesday 4th November, and it will be a one-night, two-day camp.

Camp Cost: 

The cost of the camp is $200 per student.

Payment Options: 

Families are welcome to pay the full amount or choose a payment plan. If you wish to pay via a payment plan, this can be organised through Compass. Payment instalments are on the following dates:

• 10th July 2025
• 10th August 2025
• 10th September 2025
• 10th October 2025

CSEF (Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund)

If your family is eligible for CSEF, the camp cost has already been adjusted to reflect the credit available on your account.

School Saving Bonus (SSB)

Families can also use their School Saving Bonus (SSB) towards the camp cost. The school office will update your camp balance accordingly.

We encourage all families to take advantage of these options to ensure every student has the opportunity to attend this memorable experience.
