Principal's News

Dear Families,

It has been a short week, but certainly a full one. With NAPLAN underway, classrooms have continued to be busy places of great learning, with students showing wonderful focus and resilience. Like many communities at the moment, we are managing a number of staff absences and a range of illnesses circulating. We ask families to please support us in minimising the spread of viruses by keeping children at home if they are showing signs of illness.

The final three weeks of the term promise to be very busy. We emailed details of our Parent Teacher Interviews scheduled for Wednesday 1 April (details also attached below), we look forward to our Journey to Jerusalem display in the Church and families are invited to participate in the important Inform and Empower parent online session. Our Year 6 leaders will represent Holy Rosary at the St Patrick’s Day Mass at the Cathedral, and there will be a number of year level Celebrations of Learning taking place before the end of term.

Caritas Big Walk for Water

On Thursday 2nd April, our school will take part in the Caritas Big Walk for Water, which will be held on the school basketball court. Every day, 292 million people around the world walk long distances to collect water. This Lent, Holy Rosary students will walk in solidarity with them by taking part in The BIG Water Walk. This important activity helps students learn about the challenges many people around the world face in accessing clean water.

This week students will bring home a donation form to share with family and friends. We warmly encourage our school community to support this initiative by sponsoring students and helping raise funds for Caritas Australia’s work providing safe water, sanitation and improved living conditions for communities in need.

Filming consent

It has come to our attention that some parents have been filming students during school events and activities.   While we understand that families enjoy capturing special moments, many parents in our community have not given consent for their children to be photographed or filmed. As a result, recording groups of students may unintentionally include children whose families have requested that their image not be captured or shared.   In line with our Child Safe policies, we ask that parents refrain from filming or photographing groups of students. If you do capture images or footage at school events, please ensure that it includes only your own child and that images or footage of other children are not shared on social media or any online platform.  Thank you for your understanding and for supporting us in maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all students.

Photo day

A reminder that school photos will be taken on Thursday 19 March. Children are expected to wear their full summer academic uniform, including black school shoes and navy or white socks (without logos). Hair that is shoulder length or longer should be tied back with navy, sky blue or white ribbons. The only jewellery permitted is earrings (sleepers or studs) and watches, and nail polish should not be worn.

Year Prep - 2  students will need to bring runners to change into for their PE lesson. Year 6 students will also have a Graduation Photo on the adventure playground and will wear their rugby tops.

All students will have both a class photo and an individual photo, and there will also be an opportunity for sibling photos. Details regarding payment and ordering follow in this newsletter.

Have a wonderful week!
