TEACHER STOPWORK

As communicated to parents/carers this week, it is highly likely that many of our teachers and education support staff will not be at school on Tuesday due to the stopwork, and some classes may not be required to attend. As staff are not required to confirm whether they are taking action until 5pm today, please continue to check messages from the school for updates. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

INCLUSION

One of the things I love about our school is how we make efforts to ensure all students feel part of it. We are proud to host the P-12 deaf facility, with funding and resources to support deaf and hard of hearing students to feel part of our school. Hence, the Language we provide is Auslan.

HARMONY DAY

Thanks to students and staff for wearing a splash of Orange on Tuesday to acknowledge this day that celebrates cultural diversity, inclusiveness and respect.

CROSS COUNTRY/FUN RUN

I was so impressed with yesterday’s events! It was the first time I had witnessed this event and felt so proud to see the students enjoying the day, the massive crowd of parents/carers visiting and encouraging the children and our staff for assisting the children during the day and having some fun with them. A big thanks to PE teachers, Mrs Burns and Mrs Russell, for organising everything.

GLASSES FOR KIDS (GFK)

I am pleased to announce that Grovedale West PS is participating in the GFK program, involving students in Prep – Year 3. Staff and qualified optometrists will visit our school and offer participating students with initial vision screening and, if required, further testing and glasses at no cost. All screening and testing sessions will be completed during school hours and children who currently wear glasses can participate in the program, which will take place on school grounds.

For children to participate, families can choose to complete either the online consent form or fill in the physical consent form (attached to this newsletter) and return to the school by Wednesday 25th March.
