Celebrating Our Faith
St Patrick’s Day, St Joseph’s Feast Day & Catholic Education Week
St Patrick’s Feast Day ☘️
This week our school community joyfully celebrated St Patrick’s Feast Day, honouring the life and witness of one of the great saints of the Church. Students were invited to wear a touch of green to school, with the reminder shared by Sidney Kay at last week’s assembly. The colour green is traditionally associated with St Patrick and Ireland and reminds us of the shamrock, which St Patrick used to teach people about the mystery of the Holy Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. To mark the day, each classroom also dedicated their morning prayer to St Patrick, asking for his intercession and reflecting on how we too are called to courageously share the love of Christ with others.
St Joseph’s Feast Day – Our School Patron Saint
Our school community also gathered in faith to celebrate the Feast of St Joseph, the patron saint of our school. Students attended a special parish Mass where we gave thanks for the life of St Joseph, the faithful guardian of Jesus and spouse of Mary. Known for his quiet strength, humility and trust in God, St Joseph reminds us of the importance of living with faith and serving others with love.
Throughout the day, students also participated in classroom activities centred on the life of St Joseph, reflecting on how they can follow his example by helping others, caring for their families and working with dedication in all they do. In the afternoon, students enjoyed Kaboom Sports, a fun and energetic celebration that brought our community together in joy. The activities highlighted the values of teamwork, encouragement and community, reminding us of the spirit of care and unity that St Joseph models for us.
Catholic Education Week
This week we also join Catholic schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne in celebrating Catholic Education Week, which runs from Sunday 15 March to Sunday 22 March. This special week is an opportunity to celebrate our Catholic identity, recognise the important role Catholic schools play within their communities, and give thanks for the gift of Catholic education. This year’s theme, “Christ beside me: Walking in the footsteps of Saint Patrick,” invites us to reflect on the life and faith of St Patrick, the patron saint of our local Church in Melbourne.
As part of the celebrations, our Year 6 student leaders attended the Mass of St Patrick for Schools at St Patrick’s Cathedral, followed by the Concert in the Park. It was a wonderful and memorable experience for our students to celebrate their faith alongside thousands of students and educators from across the Archdiocese, accompanied by Mrs Marinelli and Ms O’Grady.
