Welcome back to term 3! It was delightful to hear from many of the students about what they did over the school holidays, sharing their stories and the wonderful experiences they had with family and friends both near and far.

On Monday 22 July we started our free English and computer courses for parents onsite run by Banksia Gardens Community.  It was lovely to meet some of the parents.  If you are interested in attending one or both of these courses and would like further information please do not hesitate to contact the school and ask to speak to Mrs Linda Coughlan with thanks.

Hume City Council, along with community partners, run a range of informative educational workshops for parents, carers and professionals.  The calendar of events focuses on the theme of raising resilient and healthy children and young people aged 0-24 years in Hume City.  Programs include short courses, online education sessions and family events.  All events are free.

At Broadmeadows PS we are doing the The Resilience Project (TRP) which is a program that delivers emotionally engaging programs to schools providing practical, evidence-based mental health strategies to build resilience and happiness. Through presentations, school curriculum, events, the TRP app and wellbeing journals, they share the benefits of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness, and easy ways to practise these in everyday life. We have provided a link to the TRP parent/carer hub to share thesimple, evidence-based strategies being taught in the classroom so you can build on their impact at home.

This week the Grade 3 / 4s attended an incursion with Project Rockit 'Belong' Program - "The big idea: Each one of us matters, and we all have the power to make everyone feel like they belong.”  The students participated and engaged meaningfully which was wonderful to see.  Well done!

We have Bullying No Way: National Week of Action 12-16 August.   It is Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative and connects schools and communities to find workable solutions to prevent bullying.   The theme for 2024 is 'Everyone belongs'.  When we all feel like we belong, bullying struggles to find a place. It's about embracing who we are, respecting everyone's differences and standing up together against unkindness. Belonging means we all have a role in preventing bullying.  We are encouraged to speak up and create a safe place where everyone feels supported and respected, and our voices are heard and valued.

We have attached a link to some fact sheets for families to access further information:
