We have started Term 3 by introducing procedural writing and looking at all the different places we might find examples of procedural texts. We discovered they are everywhere including, instructions of how to play games and recipes. We even learnt that sometimes a procedure can be in picture form, like when you follow instructions to draw a picture, make origami or even follow instructions to assemble furniture. I'm sure we will all be able to use our skills to assemble some Ikea furniture!

We have also been learning about summarising fiction texts. This means we put the story in our own words by only telling the most important parts. When we summarise a text, we can include who the main characters are, the setting, and what is the problem and solution in the story.

In Numeracy, we have begun Term 3 by introducing multiplication. Although it is a big word, we have learnt that it means: groups of, rows of, lots of, times, multiplied by and we even learnt that the symbol is X. We are using lots of drawing and hands on materials to assist us with our learning.

Resilience is the ability to cope when things go wrong, and to not give up easily when things get hard. It is an important life skills to develop. We have been discussing strategies we could use when we are faced with challenges and how we might solve problems by persisting.
To assist with building resilience, we used our problem solving and persistence skills to try and work out how many squares we could see. This activity really tested our resilience to keep looking at different ways to look at a problem. Lets see how you do!
