YEARS 3 & 5 NAPLAN (NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM – LITERACY & NUMERACY) RESULTS - 2024
Overall, our students in Years 3 and 5 have performed exceptionally well in all five areas assessed: Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation, and Numeracy this year. Our results compared positively with similar schools and others in our network, which is very pleasing. Individual reports are accessible on Compass for all participating students this year, and hard copies were sent home last week. We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements overall. Well done to everyone—what a success!

COLD and FLU SEASON
We've started the new school term during one of the coldest weeks on record! Winter weather has settled in, bringing much chill, and it's a timely reminder for children to dress appropriately: wearing their uniform jumper, long pants, and a coat. We appreciate the communication we've received from our community regarding absences and their reasons. Please continue to communicate absences through Compass or by calling the office.
Safe parking and drop off around our school
Hume City Council is aware of concerning driver behaviour at school drop off and pick up times around our school. “Please note that the city council will be under[1]taking regular patrols to ensure parking compliance. Any breaches observed, will be enforced. This is to help ensure the safety of students and staff and the broader school community. Remember that it is dangerous to double park and let your child get out on the street. It is also helpful to keep moving if there is not a park where you want one, there may be a park further up the street or around the corner.
Reminder- Online safety
Screen time and digital technology can help children build and maintain relationships and learn social skills. But for children of all ages, it’s important to balance socialising online with opportunities for face-to-face socialising. It’s best for young children to interact with others face to face. This is how they learn about non-verbal cues, eye contact, body language and other social and communication skills. We know;
• Social media is a big part of social and creative life for many pre-teens and teenagers.
• Social media benefits include connection, learning and creativity.
• Risks include exposure to inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and privacy and data breaches.
• Written guidelines can help pre-teens and teenagers get benefits while using social media responsibly, respectfully and safely. Further information can be found on;
