Performing Arts

For much of last term and the beginning of this term, the 4-6 classes have been working on writing, rehearsing and performing puppet plays. We learnt about the components of children's theatre and how to work with puppets and then groups were asked to alter a known fairy tale to create a puppet play suitable for our junior students. The groups have done an outstanding job and we are almost finished our filming schedule (after lots of disruptions with many people being away unwell). Below are some exerts from their plays.

Little Red and the Three Bears - Daniel & Jake

N: Once Upon a time there  were three bears. A mum and a dad and a baby bear.

But then the baby bear wandered off and  saw a girl in nearly all red clothing.

But then the girl spotted the baby bear.

R: Hi there, my name is Little Red. What’s your name?

BB: My real name is Timothy, but people call me Tim.

R: Hi Tim, do you want to play? We could go to my Gran’s house, it’s not far away.

BB: Yeah, sure, let’s go!

So they climbed a tree and swung their way to Grandma’s.

Meanwhile, Mummy & Daddy bear notice that baby bear is not around.

DB: Mummy bear, do you know where baby bear is?

MB: I’m sure he’s around here somewhere dear.

DB: I think he’s missing. I haven’t been able to smell the honey around his lips or the porridge for a while now.

MB: Oh dear! What will we do daddy bear?

DB: Well let’s start by walking around a little and calling out his name.

So off went M&D bear to try and find BB.

By this time BB and LR had arrived at Grandma’s.

LR: Come on Tim. I’ll introduce you to my Gran.

The two new friends walked up to the door and knocked.

GM: Oh hello little Red and who have we here?

LR: This is my friend Tim, Gran. We’ve come for a visit.

GM: Well come on in. I've just made some honey cakes.

Mummy and Daddy bear couldn't find BB anywhere so they decided to call Mr Wolf the detective.

When Mr Wolf arrived, he called out…

MW: What’s the time??? Oh I know, wolf time (ha, ha, ha)

MB: Oh Mr Wolf can you help us find BB? Please!!!! He’s missing
