Religious Education

This term in Religious Education, we will be investigating the messages in the Beatitudes and identifying people in our lives that demonstrate these qualities. We will then be focusing our learning on the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the many people within our church community that display these gifts.

Mathematics

This term in Chance and Data, we will be learning about the probability of an event happening using language such as impossible, unlikely, likely and certain. We will then revisit the topic of Multiplication and consolidate our learning of solving more complicated equations. Adding and subtracting money will then be our focus and we will have loads of practice playing shopkeeper.

English

This term we will continue our learning through mentor texts.  Some of the skills we will learn are the study of vocabulary, the writing process and a deeper understanding of the texts. Our first text is 'Magic Beach' by Alison Lester, followed by 'Let’s save the Great Barrier Reef' by Catherine Barr.  We will continue to improve our inferential and critical comprehension skills while reading our individual novels. This week we are focusing on cause and effect, ie: 'What happened and what caused it to happen?' Each week we will focus on a different skill that helps to improve our understanding of what we’ve read.

Social & Emotional Learning

This term in SEL, the Year 3/4 students will be exploring strategies to assist them with social awareness and how to solve conflicts in friendships.

Inquiry

The focus in Inquiry this term is History. The Year 3/4 students will be investigating the first explorers and the impact these explorations had on colonisation and the first nations peoples. We will be sequencing timelines of Australia's History and analysing the cause and effect of these historical events and explaining how life changed or in some cases remained the same.

Homework

Homework will continue each fortnight in the same format as last term. The tasks will be revision of what has already been learnt in class.
