Senior School Excursion - Sydney - Student's Account
Last week, Senior School students went on a five day excursion to Sydney from Monday to Friday. Our teachers organised a variety of activities that were educational and fun, providing us with a fantastic opportunity to explore Sydney with our friends.
On Tuesday Stage 5 students were able to experience the NSW State Library and Parliament House and on Wednesday, Mr Wood organised a fun scavenger hunt like race for the Year 9 and Year 10 students to enjoy.
Academy students were able to experience a range of activities relating to their HSC courses throughout Tuesday and Wednesday. These included a trip to the Jewish Holocaust Museum, a tour of the University of Sydney’s Science Department and the JMC Academy, to name a few. This excursion was a great way for us to engage with our learning in a new way and for most, an exciting week to take a break from our studies - unless, of course, you were a Society and Culture student.
Stages 5 and 6 students were separated on our first two full days in Sydney, but in the evenings Year 9 to Academy II students explored diverse international foods together from Chinatown, Manly, Spice Alley and Pitt Street Mall, proving to be a highlight of the trip as it was an opportunity to spend time with friends and eat plenty of delicious foods. Stage 5 and 6 students also spent Thursday together for a fun day at Taronga Zoo before heading off for food and shopping at Pitt Street Mall on our last night.
We are incredibly grateful for our teachers who organised and supervised the excursion. They made every effort to make sure we had a great experience, especially to Mr Auld who dedicated a significant amount of time to make the excursion as enjoyable and educational as possible.
