Dear Families
Loyola House Day
This week saw the celebration of Loyola House Day, an occasion to mark the significance of one of our College Founders, St Ignatius of Loyola. St Ignatius of Loyola, born in 1491 in Spain, was originally a soldier who experienced a profound spiritual conversion after being injured in battle. During his recovery, he read religious texts that inspired him to dedicate his life to God. Ignatius founded the Society of Jesus, also known as the Jesuits, in 1540, with a mission to educate and evangelise. His 'Spiritual Exercises,' a set of meditations, prayers, and contemplative practices, became a cornerstone of Jesuit training and Catholic spirituality. He died in 1556, leaving a legacy of spiritual renewal and educational reform that continues to impact the world today. In our contemporary context, we continue St Ignatius’ legacy as we seek to ‘find God in all things’ and be ‘people for others’. Thank you to Ms Clare Galati, Loyola House Coordinator and Homeroom Teachers for leading students in a range of activities in celebration of the day. More information on the life of St Ignatius can be found here.
Loyola House Prayer
Lord,
Teach me to be generous Teach me to serve you as you deserve To give and not to count the cost To fight and not to heed the wounds To toil and not to seek for rest To labor and not to ask for reward Except that of knowing that I am doing your will.
Interhouse Athletics Carnival: Fr Kevin King Cup
Congratulations to Campion House for winning the Fr Kevin King Cup at today’s Interhouse Athletics Carnival. The positive energy and high level of student participation today is a testament to the strength of our House system at the College and it was wonderful to see our Year 12 students lead and encourage the younger students in generating fantastic House spirit. The Spirit Award recognising House spirit was awarded to Koolyangarra House. Congratulations, also, to students who achieved a personal best in their events. We look forward to recognising these students at assembly next week and to hearing of the College team’s success at the upcoming Interschool ACC A-Division Carnival on Tuesday, 11 September.
International Ethics Olympiad Final
A huge congratulations to our Senior Ethics team who won bronze at this week's International Ethics Olympiad Final. What an outstanding achievement! Congratulations Gemma Bailey, Meg Cleary, Meg Derbyshire, Asha Paton and Sky Pineda Beasley.

Contacting staff via phone – change to voicemail services
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our services, we have transitioned to a new Unified Communications/Telephony System to streamline our voice and video messaging and enhance the overall experience for parents and staff. When leaving a voice message, please ensure to press the hash key (#) at the end of your message before hanging up. This step is essential as it signals the system to send your message successfully. Failure to press the hash key will result in your message not being delivered. We understand this is a slight change from our previous system, and we appreciate your cooperation in adapting to this new process. Your messages are important to us, and we want to make sure that they are received and addressed promptly.

Year 10 Media Excursion
This week Year 10 Media Production students travelled to Optus Stadium for a behind-the-scenes tour. Our knowledgeable guide Rocco walked us through the venue’s extensive media facilities, including a close look at the state-of-the-art equipment housed in the Dennis Cometti Media Centre (which incorporates the main television and radio broadcast rooms) and the Coaches’ Rooms.
We followed this up with a visit to Mineral Resources Park in Lathlain, home of the West Coast Eagles. We were lucky enough to be there during the regular season, let alone on AFLW photo day – the atmosphere was buzzing, and we were able to witness the Club’s media production facilities in action. Our enthusiastic guide, Juliet, hosted a panel discussion with fellow Eagles staff members from their communications department, who were able to give us valuable insights into the vast range of media-related tasks and content production involved, as well as shed light on employment opportunities at the Club.
They even let us have a kick out on the training ground after lunch!

ACC Netball and Soccer
Both our ACC netball and ACC soccer teams travelled for their round of 16 matches this Wednesday. Both teams played hard fought games and should be extremely proud of the efforts they put in. Unfortunately, both teams just fell short of progressing through to the next rounds. Well done to all students involved and once again a big thank you to the staff involved in the coaching and preparation, Miss Jodi Power and Mr Simon Carrello.
Congratulations
We are thrilled to share the remarkable achievements of one of our talented students, Elena Kyngdon, Year 9. She has made significant strides in the world of kiteboarding, and her dedication and hard work have led her to impressive accomplishments both nationally and internationally.
Elena is an integral part of Kiteboarding Western Australia’s Junior Development program, where she competes at both state and national levels. Her journey continues to soar as she prepares to participate in the 2024 Youth World Championships for Kiteboarding in Tarifa, Spain later this term. Elena will be one of five competitors representing Australia at this prestigious event. The Championship will take place in September, preceded by a professional preparation and coaching camp the week prior.
We are incredibly proud of Elena's achievements and wish her all the best as she continues to excel in her sport. Her determination and success serve as an inspiration to all.
