Principal's Report

Angela Dawson

We are expanding the Leadership Team at Valkstone!

In order to best support the students, staff and families at Valkstone Primary, we are welcoming a 2nd Assistant Principal to the staff!

The Assistant Principals work alongside me to set the strategic intent and future direction of the school, to ensure the effective operation of all areas within the school community and will actively work to build a culture of shared responsibility for whole school improvement.

While the Executive Leadership Team works collaboratively, each Assistant Principal will have responsibility for a leadership portfolio – ‘Teaching and Learning Excellence (Curriculum)’ or ‘Student and Community Partnerships (Wellbeing)’. The scope of each portfolio reflects the priorities as outlined in our school's School Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan.

Our current Assistant Principal Grant Rounsley will take on the ‘Student and Community Partnerships (Wellbeing)’ portfolio.

It is my great pleasure, after a rigorous employment process, to introduce you to the successful applicant for the ‘Teaching and Learning Excellence (Curriculum)’ Assistant Principal position - Verity Sheppard.

Verity will be joining us full time from the start of Week 5, and will be popping in and out over the next three weeks, as she finalizes her existing responsibilities within her current role at the Department of Education.

I look forward to introducing you to her in person at her first school assembly.

Hi Valkstone Primary School Community!

My name is Miss Verity Sheppard and I am excited to be joining the Valkstone PS leadership team as an Assistant Principal. Since the beginning of 2020 I have been working across many schools in the Bayside Peninsula Area supporting with the implementation of The Department of Education’s Professional Learning Community initiative. Prior to that I was a teacher and school leader at Kingswood Primary School for over 12 years.

From the times I have already spent at Valkstone PS, I know it is an exciting place to be for staff, students and families. I am looking forward to continuing to learn about the great things that happen here as I continue to engage with staff and meet the students over the coming weeks.

As Assistant Principal it will be my great privilege to support staff and students to continue to be curious learners, equipping themselves with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to thrive in tomorrow’s world.
