Boys District Basketball Finals

On Friday 13th October, the 5/6 boys basketball team ventured to the Knox Basketball Stadium for the District Basketball Finals. As this was the second round of this competition, we knew the competition would be fierce. All the teams in attendance had finished 1st or 2nd in their school zone. The expectation was that it would be difficult to win a game, so to win our first game by 5 points was a terrific result for the boys. They took this into the second game and a slow start probably cost us in the end, losing 28-25 to Knox Gardens. In game three, we lost to the eventual winners, Lysterfield.

I want to give a huge thanks to Riley Hill who coached the boys during both rounds of this competition and Hoop Time. Riley was juggling work and coaching, and I'm sure I speak for the boys, school and parents in saying we would not have gone as far as we did without him. Riley has obvious experience in coaching juniors and the boys responded extremely well. They came together as a team and put their best foot forward. Thank you Riley!
