Bogan Bingo - PFA Event

Bogan Bingo was an absolute blast last Saturday night! The Bogan Boys (presenters) were very funny and ran a really good show. Most people dressed up in their finest flannelette shirts and beanies, and joined in the fun. Approximately 60+ people attended the event, and we’d like to thank them all for supporting our terrific school.

A huge thank you to our PFA committee for organising this community event, and a special mention to Pam Kunst who led the team. The PFA sourced Silent Auction prizes and ran this on the night as well.

Members of the PFA team came into school on Friday afternoon and set up the hall and tables for the following night and, due to this fantastic organisation, the night ran very smoothly.

A BIG thanks to the sponsors who donated goods for the Silent Auction.

Planning For 2024

Our 2024 Foundation students had their first transition day last week. It was so exciting to have them here with us. There are new faces and families joining us, as well as existing families with children who are very confident in knowing the school!

We are also beginning to think about our 2024 classes, which might sound early but we take time and effort to make sure these are as balanced as can be in many different ways.

We do accept parent requests, as long as they are on educational grounds; we don’t accept requests for teachers.  These requests are overseen by the Principal team rather than classroom teachers as this allows us to ensure all requests are received and treated fairly and equitably. All requests must be in writing or email. Please forward all requests to Sue Hartley susan.hartley@education.vic.gov.au either directly or via the office. Email or written requests are accepted with the cut-off time for submission being 4.00pm on Friday 10th November 2023.

This year our staff will take the following into account when forming classes:

  • Student learning needs
  • Current teacher recommendations
  • Class balance (number of boys and girls, similar cross-section of achievement levels, etc.)
  • Parent requests (if able to be fulfilled)
  • Student sociogram requests (ie. ‘Who I work well with’)

Parents will be informed of their child’s class and teacher when the end of year reports come home.

Day For Daniel – Friday 27th October

Next Friday 27th October, SPS will be participating in the Day For Daniel.  The Day For Daniel is held every year on the first  Friday of October and honours the memory of Daniel Morcombe. It is a day that is designed to promote safety and ways to help keep kids and young people safe.  Next Friday we encourage everyone to bring a gold coin donation and to wear red for Daniel. On this day, everyone will be involved in a Scoresby Superstars lesson about how to stay safe.

We look forward to seeing everyone dressed in red next Fridayy.
