Well done to St Brigid's Year 10 student, Grady McCourt, who has recently become a fully qualified swim teacher. Grady started working at Prouse Swim School at the beginning of this year as a swim teacher assistant and together with on the job experience and online practical work, he was able to gain his qualification. Well done Grady!
We wish all the best to St Brigid's Year 11 student, Jed Hermans, who is competing at the International Scooter Federation World Scooter Championships today in Sydney.
Good luck Jed, what an exciting opportunity!
On the last day of Term 3, our Year 8 girls attended the Active Girls Brunch at the Natimuk Showgrounds, hosted by Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly, This Girl Can and VicHealth Victoria. The students got involved in a range of physical activities and got to hear from guest speaker and Olympic medallist, Lucy Stephan OAM. Well done to the students for your enthusiasm throughout the day, and thank you to all organisers for giving them this opportunity.
VCE OUTDOOR & ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES CAMP
Students have recently been on camp to Anglesea, learning about recreational activities, types of conservation and commercialisation and their impacts to the environment both positive and negative. Students participated in a range of activities including sea kayaking, snorkeling with seals in Queenscliff, surfing and a high ropes course at Live Wire park. The trip was a great learning experience for the students.
Yesterday, we farewelled our Year 12 cohort as they finished their final day of secondary schooling. Here is a look at their final week, where students were looking great in their costumes with the themes of Aussie icons, teachers, and op-shop formal! Yesterday we celebrated their time at St Brigid's with an assembly which included the Year 12 Oscar Awards and the passing of the baton to the future leaders of the school.
We wish you all the best for your upcoming exams and look forward to celebrating your graduation with you soon!
We wish all the best to our VCE Drama students who have headed off to Ballarat this morning to complete their solo performance examination. Well done on your dedication so far this year.
During the school holidays, St Brigid's Year 9 student, Archie Elliott, was selected to represent the Greater Western Victoria U15 Rebels in the 2023 V/Line Cup in Shepperton. Since the footy carnival, he has been named in the 2023 V/Line Cup Team of the Year Boys Div 2. The team was selected from the most outstanding and talented players throughout the cup.
Well done Archie!
Congratulations to our students who competed at the School Sport Victoria State Championships on Monday. All students should be very proud of their efforts.
We are proud to announce that Year 8 student, Isla Hiscock, placed third in her 400m event. Well done Isla!
Our Year 12 VCE Vocational Major students planned and implemented a community project that focused on how we, as a community, connect to the river. They organised a presentation to our Year 7 students, with Annie Hobby and Sue Sheridan from the Horsham Rural City Council presenting. They spoke about the redevelopment of the river front and the role and function of Landcare. The Year 7 students then participated in a river walk which covered the environmental importance of trees and vegetation and the health and wellbeing benefits of the walking tracks and other facilities available along the river front.
