Primary Athletics

Athletics this year has been a little tricky. With two postponements due to weather we finally were able to get down to the track at the end of Term 3. And even though conditions were still not ideal for an athletics day, the quality and resilience of the MECS community came through. The students did an excellent job competing in the wet and the rain and the staff did an amazing job helping to run all of the events. Thankfully we had no major injuries and ending up having a fun day.

Here is a video to celebrate!

CSEN Sport

Term 3 has been a big and busy one for Sport at MECS. We continue to have our Wednesday afternoon sport with many of our teams performing to a high level. Our junior boys (Years 7/8) Basketball teams have been consistently high on the ladder and will be looking to try and get into the grand final. There are a couple more rounds to go at the start of Term 4 but they are in a nice position. All teams have been representing the school extremely well!

We also had the VCE rally day which involved MECS sending 3 girls Netball teams and 3 boys Football Fives teams. Our boys competed really well with the A team finishing in 3rd place for the day. Our girls A Netball team won the competition in a thrilling grand final! Well done to all involved.

We finished off the term in sport with the CSEN Athletics Carnival on Friday 8 September which was held in the City at Lakeside Stadium. We had a lot of great efforts throughout the day and we are glad many students were able to come and perform at their best. Special mentions to Julia Wright (2nd in U21 Girls 100m), Jamie Wright (2nd in U15 Boys Triple Jump) and Adelaide Caldicott (1st U15 Girls 100m, 400m & Triple Jump!!). Well done all involved!
