Boots to the Bush
For Year 12, the highlight of the term is undoubtedly the Boots to the Bush trip. This year, our two teams completed a range of projects work including at the Rakula site, building and fabrication, electrical wiring, plumbing and general maintenance and in Batchelor, preparing and servicing a fleet of bikes and making three 'corn holes', repairs and renovations at the preschool, a small deck replacement at a local house and a fantastic connection with the Community shed helping complete a batch of possum boxes for local Parks service.
We also visited the spectacular swimming holes in the Litchfield National Park and enjoyed a day off in Darwin collecting some materials, and seeing some interesting sites including the sunset on Mindil Beach and the famous market held there.
This trip is a great opportunity to be stretched and to build stronger relationships. Despite some students being unwell, students have been reflecting very positively on the experience and our hosts are excited to have us return next year.
