Mother’s Day luncheon

Our recent Mother’s Day Luncheon was a truly wonderful celebration of community, connection and appreciation, and I would like to sincerely thank our incredible organising committee for the enormous amount of time, care and effort that went into making the event such a success. The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was warm, welcoming and filled with laughter, conversation and genuine connection. It was so special to see so many mothers in our students’ lives come together to celebrate and enjoy each other’s company.

The attention to detail from the committee was exceptional, from the beautifully presented venue and thoughtful decorations through to the lovely goodie bags that added such a personal and generous touch for those in attendance. These small details do not go unnoticed and contributed greatly to making the afternoon feel so meaningful and memorable. Events like this are only possible because of the dedication and generosity of volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes, and our school community is incredibly fortunate to have such committed and passionate parents supporting our school. Thank you again to everyone involved for creating such a fantastic event for our community.

At our most recent school council meeting we went through the 2025 Moorabbin Primary School Annual Report which highlighted another year of strong growth, community connection and continued focus on improving student outcomes. One of the key highlights across the year has been our continued investment in high-quality teaching and learning practices, particularly through explicit instruction and structured literacy approaches. Staff have worked collaboratively to strengthen consistency across classrooms, ensuring students are supported with clear learning intentions, targeted intervention and engaging learning opportunities that cater to a range of student needs.

Another significant focus in 2025 has been student wellbeing and building a strong sense of belonging across the school. Initiatives such as our buddy program, whole-school events, wellbeing supports and student leadership opportunities have contributed to a positive and inclusive school culture. In addition, the Annual Report reflects the school’s careful and responsible financial management, with resources strategically allocated to staffing, targeted student support programs, classroom resources and the ongoing improvement of our learning environments.

These achievements are a reflection of the collective efforts of our staff, students, families and wider school community.

Happy Mother’s Day Sunday 10th May

Mother’s Day is one of those occasions that can mean many different things to many people, but at its heart, it’s about recognising the care, patience and quiet strength that mothers and mother figures show every single day. Being a mother is often described as the most important job in the world and also the one with the least sleep, the most snacks required, and the occasional negotiation skills that rival international diplomacy!

But in all seriousness, it’s the small, everyday moments that matter most, the encouragement, the listening, the showing up, even on the hard days. Those moments shape our children in ways we don’t always see immediately, but they last a lifetime.

I hope that this coming Sunday will be a chance to pause, to connect, and to acknowledge the incredible role that mothers and carers play in our lives and in our community.
