A Word from Justin
Term 2, Week 4 - Friday 15th May, 2026
Dear Families of OLSC,
Good afternoon families of OLSC. I hope all of the mothers and special woman in the lives of our students had a great mother's day. I am sure that you were all treated like queens for the day and hopefully at least on the receiving end of a small gift.
Today we had our Term 2 Whole School Mass. It was great to see so many parents could join us for this occasion. Thanks once again to John Dini for planning of the mass and to Imogen, Leeza and Jamie for preparing and assisting with the choir.

I invite you all to join us this Sunday morning for community mass. This mass will be

particulalry special as 26 of our Year 4 students will receive the Eucharist for the first time. The staff and parish community are looking forward to celebrating this faith milestone with you all.
Last week it was great to celebrate the mothers, grandmothers and all of the special women in our lives. At this time we also pray for those in our community who have lost their mum and hope that the day was an opportunity to reflect on and share the special stories we have about our mothers.
On Wednesday we had a Mother's Day breakfast and then on Friday almost every student (and many staff) took advantage of our Mother's Day gift stall and bought a special present for mums. Thank you to the staff and parents and friends group who pitched in to make these celebrations so special.

As winter approaches and the resultant colds and flu, please be extra vigilant in monitoring your child's health and avoid sending them to school when unwell.
To help keep our school community healthy and safe, we kindly ask that children stay home if they are feeling unwell or showing symptoms of illness. Keeping sick

children at home helps reduce the spread of infections and protects other students, staff and families. Children should only return to school once they are feeling well and are no longer have symptoms or are contagious. We appreciate your support and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and caring environment for everyone in our community.
Unfortunately the building site for our new discovery centre seems to be at a stand still.

There hasn't been any progress since the last newsletter which is pretty disappointiing. Let's hope some progress and momentum is on the way!
Following yesterday's site meeting, I have been told that the hold up is the steel framing and expected to receive a delivery soon. Fingers crossed.
From looking at the builder's program, we should see some progress happening from Monday, with steel and cladding deliveries due next week.
Over the weekend two students from Year 5/6, Liliana and Sophia flew to Sydney for the Hip Hop International, Nationals. Their team “Helix” was awarded Victorian State Champions and finished in the Top 10 in Australia. What an amazing achievement for the new team.
Well done Liliana and Sophia!

If anyone in your family has an achievement that could be shared in the newsletter and is worthy of celebration and acknowledgement, please email Justin to be included in the next newsletter.
