We are excited to share that our Stage 2 bilingual classes recently enjoyed an enriching excursion to the Korean Cultural Centre. Students learned about Hanok, traditional Korean houses, and experienced wearing Hanbok, Korea’s beautiful traditional clothing. A special highlight of the day was welcoming Korean children’s book author and illustrator Kyung Hye-won, who introduced her captivating book I am Lioness (나는 사자) and guided an inspiring art workshop using the Hanji collage technique

The Stage 3 Multicultural Speaking Competition Finals were held on Thursday, 21 May.
20 brave students presented their speeches to approximately 400 other students and teachers in the school hall. It was extremely inspiring to hear the voices of our students declare undeniable facts, argue compelling perspectives and demonstrate empathy through various topics such as 'All Voices Matter', 'Multicultural Lunchboxes', 'Welcome to the World Cup', 'Learning from Each Other', 'Closing the Gap', 'Seeking Refuge', 'Taking a Stand' and 'My Culture, My Responsibility'.
A highlight in particular was Year 5 and 6's expert use of figurative language to describe cultural inclusivity. Some of these included: how each voice in a multicultural society harmonises together to create a song, how diversity involves different cultures coming together as a complete puzzle and how food and sport speak a language that everybody understands.

We could not be prouder of our Stage 3 students for spreading such a beautiful message at Chatswood Public School.
Impromptu speeches will be presented next week, and the finalist will be announced at the end of the week.
Good luck to our finalists!

Congratulations Cara L, Lexi I & Oliver D who have been selected for the PSSA Ku-Ring-Gai zone football teams following highly competitive trials. These students will now attend the combined Ku-Ring-Gai/Hornsby trials on Friday, 29 May at Montview Oval, Hornsby Heights. We are very proud of their achievement and wish them all the best at the upcoming trials!
The Dragon Boat Festival is coming soon, and we are excited to celebrate with two separate assemblies at Chatswood Public School. We warmly welcome students, parents and carers to join us for this event to come together, learn about cultural traditions and create lasting memories.
Please note:

As today was Walk to School Safely Day, we had a visit this morning from SC Jon Wiln and SC Dominic Trevor from our local command. The students were delighted to receive stickers and hear about the importance of road safety.
As part of our commitment to ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students, we would like to remind everyone about the importance of being aware of food allergies, particularly regarding nut products.
Food allergies can pose serious health risks for some students, and exposure to allergens, such as nuts, can lead to severe reactions. To help protect our students with nut allergies, we kindly ask all families to refrain from sending any foods that contain nuts or nut products to school. This includes items such as:
We also ask that if you choose to bring party bags in for your child's class, these must be free from nuts and nut products to ensure the safety of all students. Party bags should be brought to the school administration office for distribution prior to school starting, rather than being handed directly to the teacher or students in the classroom. Distribution of lolly bags will be at the end of the school day by the class teacher.
We encourage everyone to read food labels carefully and to opt for nut-free alternatives when packing lunches, snacks, and party bags. This small effort can make a significant difference in the safety and well-being of our students.
If your child has a food allergy, please reinforce their understanding of not accepting food offered by peers.
Our staff are trained to respond to allergic reactions and are committed to supporting all students in a safe learning environment.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
