Australian Auto Aftermarket and Collision Repair Expo - this April

The 2024 Australian Auto Aftermarket and Collision Repair Expo is on from the 11th until the 13th April at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The auto aftermarket expo is Australia’s largest Auto Aftermarket event. 

 

Registration to the trade show and some training is free.

 

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about potential career pathways, attend business management sessions and experience technical training from industry experts and international guests.

News from Deakin University

Deakin have a Guaranteed ATAR scheme; if a student achieves a specific ATAR, they know they will be guaranteed a place into a particular course. For example:  Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence at Burwood will accept a student who achieves a 62 ATAR, Bachelor of Health Sciences 54 and so on.

University of Melbourne Mathematics and Statistics Research Competition

The 2024 Mathematics and Statistics Research Competition has officially launched!

How does it work?

  • It’s free.
  • It’s open to students from across Australia.
  • It’s not an exam - you write a report or make a poster.
  • There is a range of open-ended research topics to choose from.
  • You have until 31 July to undertake research and submit a project.
  • The highest-quality projects are eligible for cash prizes.
  • You may be invited to The University of Melbourne Parkville campus to deliver a presentation on your research.

How do I enter?

The steps are:

  1. Form a team of up to 3
  2. Select a topic from the competition booklet. Click here to be sent a copy.
  3. Conduct research and create a report or visual display.
  4. Submit your research by the deadline.

Prizes!

Students with the top project receive $500 each and finalists receive $200 each. There are also cash prizes for the best visual displays!

Federation University - Walk and Talk Tours

Visit a Federation campus during the school holidays and explore the facilities you’ll enjoy as a student, if you are to study at Fed.  Tours will be led by a current student, so you will get the opportunity to hear firsthand about their study experience at Fed.

 

Federation University has a campus at Berwick and this is the closest university to us.  A number of our students choose Fed Berwick as it is an inviting campus, they have an excellent mentoring program and students are not just a number!     With the number of offered courses growing each year, Fed Uni is definitely worth considering as a future place of study.

Open Day - Simpson Barracks - 5th May 2024

The Defence Work Experience Program is pleased to advise that the Army at Simpson Barracks in Greensborough, is intending to host an open day on Sunday 05 May 2024. This event is being developed to showcase the variety of careers with Army and Defence.

 

The Defence Work Experience Program are planning to run a bus shuttle from Watsonia Station to Simpson Barracks throughout the day for students with their parents. Gates will open at 10am and close at 4pm. 

 

Registrations will be required for attendance and we are waiting for further information from the Defence Work Experience Program. 

 

This is a great opportunity for students in Years 10 - 12.

 

We will provide further information as it comes to hand.

The Rubbish Film Festival Competition

Microsoft Imagine Cup Junior is an exciting opportunity for students aged 5- 18 years old to learn about technology and how it can be used to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges, while participating in a global student challenge that is suitable for all levels. Participation is via a Team Leader over the age of 18 who must submit projects on behalf of their student teams by May 8, 2024.

VCE UNIT 3 OVERVIEW AND COMPREHENSIVE START TO UNIT 4

 

Access Education have arranged an excellent Online Lecture Program for students undertaking Units 3 and 4. The lectures are presented by the state's best teaching professionals and will ensure that you are not only on track to achieve your personal best in your subjects, but the lectures will also give you the tools you need to give you a head start in your final semester at Pakenham Secondary College.

 

As part of the lecture program, you will receive a bespoke set of notes written by the presented. These will be posted to you prior to the lecture. These notes are not available to purchase anywhere else.

 

The lectures are delivered by Zoom Webinar. All sessions will be recorded and will be available to stream for one day the following week.
