Harmony Day

Celebrating Our Diverse Community

At Great Ryrie Primary School, Harmony Day was a time of colour, and celebration as students came together to honour the many cultures that make up our school community.

On Thursday, our classrooms were alive with the vibrant sights of traditional dress and the warm glow of orange, symbolising unity, and respect.

By wearing orange, students showed their support for cultural diversity and their dedication to building an inclusive community.

NAPLAN

It was great to hear about the resilience shown by our Year 3 and Year 5 students during the NAPLAN sessions. They were certainly displaying the school value of being great learners.

Creating a calm and supportive environment for assessments is crucial for allowing students to perform at their best. It's also important to recognise that these assessments are just one aspect of the great work happening in our school every day.

Results will be available later in the year for 2024.

School Crossing Safety

I wanted to take a moment to address some critical safety concerns brought to my attention by the police involving our crossing supervisors.

There have been several near misses with cars driving through the crossing whilst the supervisors and our students are present.

Safety around school zones is paramount, and we urge all parents to remind themselves and others to adhere strictly to the 40 km speed limit and stop signs. We cannot stress enough the importance of vigilance and compliance, particularly when the safety of our children is at stake.

In response to these incidents, the police have increased their presence around our school. Their involvement is crucial in enforcing traffic regulations and ensuring the safety of our community members.

Heathmont Place

I also wanted to emphasise the importance of respecting the rules of our neighbouring residential estate, Heathmont Place. It has come to our attention through the Owners Corporation Manager,  that there have been instances of unauthorised parking in the area.

Please be reminded that only residents with displayed stickers are permitted to park in the streets of Heathmont Place.

We kindly request that members of our school community utilise the common property for pedestrian use only and refrain from parking in the estate.

Take care and have a wonderful weekend with your family and friends
