Year 6D Writing Examples

Term 1 is almost complete, and the Grade 6 students have been very busy! All classes have settled beautifully and have been deep in their learning, exploring many different subjects and topics. In Writing the students have recently been exploring Free Verse poetry, experimenting with drafting their own pieces of poetry, with a focus on creating imagery and specific moods using their language. Below are some examples from students in 6D.

Enouement by Alisha S

After years of grapple

After constantly trying

After shedding a myriad of tears

After attempting all I can

I’m still stuck.

Surrounded.

With 4 walls

Trapping me.

The gap in my heart,

A flashback to the past.

Those jovial days

I wish I savoured.

Those memories,

Now they’re gone.

The True Low of Life by Nishal S

As I think there's nothing I can really get out of,

Nothing will save me from the void,

Which only fills my heart.

The people with the comments shaped me,

Into the horrible position that I am in now.

No shimmering light of the sun.

No happiness.

Just eternally stuck in the darkest sphere in existence.

They come back to me.

All hope lost,

Gone for eternity,

And lower and lower I sink.

Until I've gone too far down.

Drowning,

Trying to get up for the last gulp of air,

But I am too late.

Curious by Hugo S

As you walk

You see a door open never seen before.

You want to know more.

A paper sat on the door,

No students it said, you want to know what it is.

Walking into a new room,

Never seen before.

A room of lights

Thousands,

All colours

Purple, pink, red, orange

Flicker, and flash

Flicker, and flash

Your Brain wants to see more.

As you walk more and more, into the room.

You see it, the hidden gem.

Never seen before.

Darkness by Hussain R

It is a feeling of deception,

A feeling of dejection.

Your happy brain drowning in salty water.

Sometimes you question yourself,

have I lost everything?

Losing someone

Or more than someone.

Can this feeling be fixed?

Sometimes you think you are hopeless,

and think you are a shame.

There is no end to this emotion.

It is only a dark land in your brain.

There is no comfort.

There is no hope.

Énouement by Shiv P

The world goes round,

But waiting in the interdimensional realm till the future

Is different.

The marvellous future would be bittersweet,

Looking at our prehistoric school, friends and home.

And all the pleasurable moments gone.

Just to see myself.

Discovering.

A word with many meanings.
