The Buzz!

In this episode, we introduce you to the amazing new teachers who have joined us at both the Ulverstone & Burnie campuses, and we meet our new student leader teams who have incredible plans for the school in 2024. So, sit down, relax, get a cup of tea and enjoy episode 1 for 2024 of The Buzz.

Teacher Training

Last week, our combined lower Primary teachers and Learning Support aides spent time training and upskilling with Jocelyn Seamer. Staff are engaging in a variety of ways to develop their literacy blocks and delivery of content to see our children’s reading levels improved and consolidated.   Jocelyn Seamer is an author, consultant, podcaster, trainer and creator of high-quality teaching resources in literacy. We are so privileged to be working with Jocelyn and are eagerly awaiting our future training sessions.

NTNAU

We are excited to announce that for the next two years, Leighland Christian School is partnering with New Tech Network Australia (NTNAU) in providing world class training to continue to transform our teaching and learning towards more engaging and rigorous teaching practices. We started this journey last week with some of our teachers.

Our school’s vision to bring the best of 21st Century education practices into our classrooms is in full bloom as teachers' model what it means to be life-long learners.

Being Christ-centred and relevant is how we’re doing school differently.

UNIFORM - Terms 2 and 3

A reminder that students are expected to wear full winter uniform in Terms 2 and 3.   The wearing of hats is not compulsory during these terms. 

Please note that girls have the option of wearing our black trousers, or new black tailored shorts, in addition to the tartan skirts/bibs, or black skirts for seniors.  These items are available for purchase or order from the school uniform store.  A reminder that the green woollen jumper forms part of our formal uniform and must be worn under the soft shell jacket.  The soft shell jacket does not replace wearing of the green woollen jumper.

We apologise for the extended delay on the PE rugby jumpers and the 11/12 rugby jumpers due to an unforeseen and unexpected manufacturing delay which is out of our control.  Our supplier is addressing this as a priority and we will notify you as soon as we have delivery. Students are able to wear their soft shell jackets with their PE uniform, if they are not in possession of a sports rugby top.

Our Leighland facebook buy and sell page is a great source for selling, buying or giving away preloved uniform.  We also keep a limited stock of preloved items in our uniform room.

Playgroup Term 2

Please be advised there is no playgroup on 11 April 2024.  Playgroup will recommence in Term 2, Week 2 for both campuses - dates to be advised.  Updates will be advertised on Leighland Christian School Facebook page.

Kinder 2025

Enrolments for Kinder 2025 are open!  Thank you to those families who have already expressed their interest or commenced the enrolment process.  We ask that any current families who have little ones for Kindy next year, to please reach out as siblings are not automatically enrolled, and enrolment forms are required to be completed for every child.  This will secure your child’s spot and greatly assist our Principals to establish vacancies for new families.
