Maria Island

This week, students from Biology, Environmental Science and Outdoor Leadership immersed themselves in breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity of Maria Island.

Upon arrival, students were greeted by the island's pristine but barren beauty. We jumped straight into setting up camp before taking a refreshing dip in the ocean. As the sun set, we gathered for dinner and devotions, followed by a captivating night walk to witness the island's nocturnal wildlife in action.

The following morning, fueled by breakfast, courage and determination, students embarked on a challenging trek to the summit of Bishop and Clerk, rewarded with panoramic views of Maria Island and the Freycinet Peninsula.  After a well-deserved lunch, we explored the swirling sandstone patterns of the Painted Cliffs, conducting a transect, and snorkeling to observe the vibrant marine life beneath the waves.

Our evening was spent sharing stories and worshipping amidst God’s natural splendors, deepening connections with each other and the environment.  Rising early on the final day, students witnessed the sunrise before visiting the ancient marine fossils of Fossil Cliffs, concluding their adventure with a sense of awe and gratitude for our Creator's design.

From sunrise to sunset, Maria Island has left an unforgettable mark on our hearts, minds and spirits, igniting a passion for deeper discovery of our own capabilities and our Lord's creation.

NSATIS Sports Update

As we come to the end of Term 1, I would like to encourage us all to celebrate the efforts of our first ever NSATIS sports teams!

Our Tennis and Basketball students have represented Leighland Christian School to such a high standard, and their dedication and hard work have been nothing short of inspiring. Despite facing tough competition, the teams from our school displayed great sportsmanship, skill, and teamwork, making us proud both on and off the court.

We are finished with these sports for now, but we eagerly anticipate the start of Term 2 sports in May! Hockey and Junior Soccer are set to take centre stage, promising new challenges and opportunities for our students to shine. Please get behind our students in any way you can! Whether it's through playing, supporting, or cheering on our teams, any community involvement is much appreciated!

Let's continue to support and cheer for our athletes as they embark on their next sporting journey. Congratulations to all our NSATIS sports teams, and here's to a successful Term 2 ahead!
