Principal's Message

Nurture.  Innovate.  Celebrate.

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families

Today, our dedicated staff members are engaged in the important task of reporting and assessment, ensuring that we accurately capture and recognise the progress and achievements of our students.

Reconciliation Week 2024

Last week was Reconciliation Week, the theme for this year was: Now More Than Ever, emphasising the need for action and change. It is a time for us to focus on understanding our shared history, connection, respect and achievements. Students had the opportunity to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Students participated in a range of activities through the week focusing on what reconciliation means, Dreamtime stories, learning about significant indigenous people and the National Sorry Day.

World Environment Day

Maramba students did a whole school clean up as part of World Environmental Day on 5th June. This year, the students discussed how they can help protect and look after different environments, the plants and animals that live within them and how to continue to keep the world a healthy and great place to live. Thank you Mrs Foley, Ms Banovic and Mr Tomazos for organising the day.

School Camp

Our students in Years 5 and 6 enjoyed a wonderful experience at CYC Forest Edge Camp last week. Amidst the beautiful surroundings and towering trees, our students embraced the spirit of adventure, teamwork and discovery.

The enthusiasm, resilience, and willingness of our students to immerse themselves in new experiences have truly exemplified the essence of our school community. Whether it was conquering the low ropes course, building their own shelters, challenging themselves on the Flying Fox, exploring the trails, or simply sitting by the campfire making damper, each challenge was approached with determination, courage and an unwavering sense of adventure.

I extend my deepest gratitude to the attending staff and their dedication to providing our students with meaningful and enriching opportunities. Thank you Mr Watling, Mrs Sharp, Mr Turner, Miss Crone and Mrs Pam Foley for your time and efforts.

Congratulations to all our students for their remarkable engagement and enthusiasm at Forest Edge Camp. Your adventurous spirit and camaraderie have filled us with immense pride!

Refurbishment of School Kitchen

We are excited to announce that renovations will soon commence on our school kitchen, located in the old gym building. These enhancements reflect our dedication to providing premium facilities that align with the exceptional standard of education we offer our students. The school canteen will reopen next term once the venue has been updated. Our Out of School Hours Care, TheirCare, will also relocate to the new gym from 12th June during the renovations.

Discovery Afternoon Term 2

Friday June 21st from 2:30-3:15pm is Maramba Primary School's first open afternoon for Discovery 2024. All families are invited  to see what their children have been exploring this term through Discovery. This provides an opportunity for all students to share their wonderful work and knowledge with their parents, carers and other members of our school community. Please join us to  hear about the amazing work our students have been up to this term.

Discovery learning takes Inquiry to a deeper and holistic level. It has been developed as a transformational process that allows students to deepen their understanding of themselves, others, and their world. This leads to students creating opportunities to develop authentic solutions to issues that they care about.

Over the term the students have studied the following topics:

Foundation: LIFE – How do I make a difference to our world?

Year 1 and 2: SYSTEMS – Why accept change?

Year 3 and 4: SUSTAINABILITY – How do we sustain life?

Year 5 and 6: HUMANITY - Why does location matter?

Here are some photos from Discovery in Term 1 where students presented to other classes.
