We're almost there! It's been a long Term 2 this year and the students will soon have a deserved and well earned break. We hope everyone is able to take some time out and that the weather is nice enough you to get some sunshine. Teachers spent the day planning for Term 3 yesterday and we're excited for what is to come!

INTERSCHOOL SPORT

Today was Round 2 of our Winter Sport competition. The students can be proud of the way they represented our school, and the fun and excitement they had playing with friends was clearly evident. Read on for some amazing reports from our Year 5 and 6 students.

T-BALL

They had been training for days. Then it came, the big day! As we all gathered to start our games, the suspense was in the air. The first hit broke the tension, then the second hit and on it went! Some of the hits were good, and some were not so good! Yet we encouraged each other no matter what happened. Our fielding was amazing but also a bit off, but we kept our heads and continued on playing. All of the teams fought valiantly, even when things got tough! We were all focused and we hope we made our school proud. It was a great experience that we will never forget.

AFL

The day had finally come. Everyone was pumped up with their uniforms on, ready to get on the field and have some fun. Parents were cheering on the boundary and then, the whistle blew. All of the Year 5’s and 6’s did an amazing job on the field whilst playing, and off the field by cheering and yelling lots of encouraging things. The team work was outstanding, with everyone sharing the footy around and almost getting everyone a goal. Some games we won, and some games we lost, but we made sure that everyone participated. Thankyou for everyone’s effort. Thankyou for showing passion and a love for the game!

NETBALL

As we stood on the lines waiting for the whistle to be blown, we were all nervous. I was maybe a bit too nervous and ran too early! The whistle blew and I was called for starting too early. It was alright though, because we were all having a lot of fun! On Friday the 14th and 21st of June, we had set off to enjoy fun days of netball. Whether it was a win or a loss, we all enjoyed two days of good competition. Thank you to all of the awesome students who played and the amazing  teachers for supporting and organising these two sport days. Also, a BIG thankyou to Mr Walsh for organising such an awesome experience for us!

ROUNDERS

Over 40 kids from Vermont, playing against four other schools and everyone with only one thing on their minds…….ROUNDERS! On Friday 14th and 21st of June, a mix of Year 5’s and 6’s played rounders on the Bob Saker Oval and CRUSHED it!  VPS played against 4 other local schools and won almost all of their games. It was fun but tiring as students ran  around the oval. There were even grudge matches between the Vermont Teams! Overall, it was fun and exhilarating to play rounders with the other schools. It was an awesome experience for all of the students.

SOCCER

It was a brisk Winter’s morning when our four Vermont Primary School soccer teams set off to Mahoney’s Reserve to compete against other schools in the district. Everyone was missing our coach Mr S, but we soldiered on and did our best. The day was amazing as we got to play soccer all day and represent our school. The best part was us cheering our other teams on when we were off the pitch. It wasn’t an easy road, but Vermont 1 managed to win all our games. The Vermont girls team played well and won 4 out of 5 of their matches. Vermont Mixed 2 and 3 were outstanding with their sportsmanship and teamwork. Overall this was an amazing opportunity to show our skills and what we were capable of. A huge thank you to Mr Walsh who organised it all even though he couldn’t be there on the day.

Last Tuesday, the Senior Soiree was held in the Stadium, involving many Grade 5 and 6 students. Congratulations to everyone who performed - we have some very talented musicians and it was great to see the hard work they have been putting in to their music. Thanks to Mr Fraser for all his organising.
