From The Principal Team

Hi Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to the start of Term 3! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable break, filled with memorable moments and lots of fun. As we embark on this new term, we are excited to see the school buzzing with energy and enthusiasm once again. Our dedicated teachers have been busy preparing engaging lessons and activities to inspire and challenge our students. Together, let's make this term a fantastic journey of learning, growth, and achievement.

This week our student's have recognised and celebrated NAIDOC week, which took place during the term break but we acknowledged this as a school this week. Our students engaged in a range of lessons and activities to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We're looking forward to seeing different year levels share some of the students' learnings and reflections at our assembly this Friday at 3pm.

On Thursday, NAPLAN results will be sent home in an envelope with student's in Year 3 and Year 5 who completed NAPLAN testing earlier in the year. Further information will be enclosed in the envelope to help understand and explain the results. We are so proud of what our students achieved; across most subject areas, our results were above similar schools.

Congratulations to all of our students in Years 4 to 6 who proudly participated in the Bayside Schools Art Show, held at Beaumaris Secondary College at the end of Term 2. It was so wonderful to see so many from the Beaumaris Primary community attend the event, thank you for your support. Thank you to Miss Ally Palermo for supporting our student's participation in this wonderful community event.

This week we welcome Tayla Corrigan back from family leave. Tayla is a highly experienced member of staff who will be joining our Learning Support team, enabling us to expand our Exceptional Learners Program. We know Tayla will be excited to see many familiar faces again and to support our student's learning.

A number of works took place around our school grounds over the term break. Updates began to the Japanese Garden, the lighting in the main building was changed, and a number of heating and cooling units around the school were replaced.

In very exciting news, both the Prep Playground and Colourful Playground will be being replaced and updated, ready for the beginning of Term 4. Following feedback from student focus groups held in Term 1, where students indicated our playgrounds were a priority, we have worked with many focus groups across the school to design and redevelop both our Prep and Colourful playgrounds. Please see the designs of the two brand new playground below. We're thrilled to be making this update to our school grounds for our students to enjoy.

The Beaumaris Primary School School Council have appointed Cohen Leigh Architects to begin designing our new hall. This project coming to fruition will hinge on securing State funding. As many families already know, we were unsuccessful in the most recent State budget. Our local member, Brad Rowswell MP, had put our school as a key project in his budget submission. Cohen Leigh have recently designed the Beaumaris Sports Pavilion and have extensive experience working with schools. We look forward to sharing these deigns with the community in the future. Alongside the work of Cohen Leigh, our School Council have appointed Pollen Studio, Landscape Architects; to design and develop a whole school Masterplan for our grounds. This will focus on further developing Learning Landscapes for our students, encompassing outdoor classrooms. It will also improve our sustainability credentials, provide a stronger connection to our local area, and will also incorporate the named bricks purchased by families last year.

Have a wonderful rest of your week.

Kind Regards,

David, Grace and Ellen
