What's Happening in Year 1?

Life Ed Victoria: Healthy Harold Visit!

During Healthy Harold's recent visit, our students had an engaging and educational experience with the Life Ed Victoria's "Ready, Steady, Go!" program. They learned about the human body, the importance of staying active and maintaining a healthy heart. Harold, the entertaining puppet giraffe, captured their attention and made the lessons fun and memorable. The kids behaved exceptionally well, showing great enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the session. Overall, it was a fantastic learning opportunity highlighting crucial health and wellness aspects.

Year One Maths Fun!

As part of our Mathematics unit, the Year 1s are participating in a range of engaging learning experiences. Our current unit is on Measurement and we have been focusing on the concepts of time, duration and sequence.

Students have been exploring this through vigorous learning activities and then revised in our Daily Reviews. Students have been working collaboratively on shared goals, questions and challenges. By being a part of a team, students have been taking on different roles, actively listening to each other and most importantly learning together. It was pleasing to see how well students were engaged as they were able to use the daily visual timetable they follow every day to learn more about the sequencing of events.

'The best part about this lesson was getting to cut out and paste the timetable sessions and I loved working with friends'  - Aria (Van Gogh)

'It's important because it helps us not to forget about the day.' - Mason (Da Vinci)

'I liked working cooperatively with my partners!' - Fredrick (Van Gogh)

'You can just look at it to remember what is on for the day!' - Chloe (Michelangelo)

'It's good to have first, second and last so we know what's happening in order.' - Vincent (Da Vinci)

'We have this [the timetable] on the side of the screen so we understand what is happening better during the day.' - Lucas (Michelangelo)
