Principal's News
Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!
Success in the 2023-2024 Building Fund for Non-Government Schools Grants!
This week the Victorian Government announced the recipients of the 2023-2024 Building Fund for Non-Government Schools grants. I am delighted to announce that our grant application was successful and we will be receiving the highest grant amount of $3.6 million dollars!
This grant is to support the completion of Stage 4 of our Master Plan and includes a new building with six general learning areas, staff work areas, student amenities, an undercover walkway joining MacKillop Views to the main buildings, staff car park and an upgrade to our electrical infrastructure. This project is costed at over $6 million dollars and would not be financially feasible without the government's support.
I extend my thanks to the Victorian Labour Government and Victorian Catholic Education Authority for their approval and to Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Infrastructure Team and our Architects, Baldasso Cortese, for their support in preparing our grant application.
This work will commence in 2025 and I am optimistic our new learning community will be ready for the 2026 school year!
Next Thursday the 8th August we celebrate the Feast Day of our school’s Patron Saint, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. We are blessed to have such a role model of faith and perseverance for our school community. A number of special activities have been planned for our students to celebrate this day. For more information on these activities please see the Education in Faith and Community and Family Engagement section of today's newsletter.
Congratulations to Ma Frecia, Emmanuel, EJ (Reimagine Homegroup), Margarette (Artists Homegroup) and Timothy on the arrival of you new baby daughter and sister Christina this week!
