School Concert Update

As previously mentioned in newsletters earlier this term, next term we have the whole school concert.

The concert routine is as follows:

  1. Wednesday August 28 - Full Dress Rehearsal  - Takes up most of the school day
  2. Thursday August 29 – Matinee followed by an Evening Performance (Matinee starts at approximately 10:30am and we bus the students back to school in time for the end of day pick up.) Evening performance starts at 6pm
  3. Friday August 30 – Evening Performance - Starts at 6pm

To run the concert and meet Time In Lieu requirements for teachers and educational support staff, the school council have approved the proposal for school times for the concert week to be altered and there will be no school during the day on Friday, August 30.  Base 1270 will operate on this day for families who require child care.

Scholarship Program Update

This week we would like to place the spotlight on our Master Chef Scholarship Program.  We have 16 students taking part in this Scholarship Program and they work in two separate groups on a Monday and Wednesday with Emily, our Master, Master Chef!

Currently, the students have been working on building independence in the kitchen and developing a repertoire of recipes. Next term they are looking forward to a possible excursion to visit some commercial ‘Prep Kitchens’ to gain an insight into how kitchens work on a large scale.  We look forward to updating you with more Master Chef news next term.

This week, our Monday Master Chef students were involved in making Smores and they certainly weren't holding back on the marshmallows, or chocolate! Here are some snaps of some of the students at work on Monday afternoon.

Casual Dress Day

This Friday, June 28th on the last day of term we will have a casual dress day for all students.  Students are asked to bring along a gold coin donation.  The Voice of the Students (VOTS) team ran a poll with their classes and have indicated that the Make a Wish foundation is the charity that they would like the funds to be donated to. Please send along a donation for this cause if you are able to.
