Onigiri Action
Let’s make a difference together to help feed children in need around the world!
Onigiri Action is a way to help feed children in need around the world. You can do this by simply taking a photo of Onigiri, a Japanese rice ball. Every time someone posts a photo of Onigiri on the campaign website, it helps give five school meals to children who don’t have enough food.
World Food Day is on October 16, a special day made by the United Nations to help people think about food problems around the world.
To celebrate this day, an organisation called TABLE FOR TWO (TFT) started Onigiri Action. Their goal is to give 1 million meals to children in need every year. TFT started in Japan, featuring Onigiri to celebrate rice, one of Japan’s important foods, and the tradition of making Onigiri for people you care about.
Their activities are expanded worldwide to countries including the US, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, U.K., Hong Kong, South Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Australia.
What you need to do: “Snap, Share Support!”
Think how you would like to contribute to this campaign by choosing one of the following, create and take a photo. The photo of your chosen creation then needs to be posted to the Onigiri Action website (https://onigiri-action.com/en/) or on social media with #OnigiriAction to share your kindness with those in need!
The campaign will end on November the 16th.
(It is recommended that when you are sharing a photo that includes your child, you might find it best to leave out their name to help protect their privacy.)
Please check out the three options and the associated links below:
Option 1: Making or eating an Onigiri (Fillings are your choice!) - Recipe - Video
| Option 2: Doing an Onigiri pose or hand sign | Option 3: Creating an Onigiri Art (Origami, Onigiri Mask, Onigiri Photo - Booth, Drawing etc.) or you can create your own Onigiri Art in any way you like! |
