Our school leaders, Lachlan and Cody, were invited to speak at Trent Cotchin's event, "Leading For Wellbeing"
Hi, it's Lachie and Cody your school captains here, and we want to share a few quick memories about our recent venture to speak at an event called Leading For Wellbeing at Eastland. We were invited to speak about Trent Cotchin's program, Posisocks. Trent Cotchin is a former professional AFL player and captain of three premierships for the Richmond Football Club. Attending the conference were over 100 people and many important people from the Department of Education Vic. We spoke for 10 minutes about Rolling Hills Primary School's experience of the Posisocks program in November last year. Trent spoke after and told us all about the good and tough times he and the Richmond Footy Club had experienced leading up to winning 3 premierships in 4 years. We gratefully received a miniature football, a signed copy of Trent Cotchin's book, 'Leading From The Heart", and a picture frame portraying the words “BELIEVE” (Ted Lasso) and a pair of Posisocks. We really enjoyed the day.
Benefits of Sleep
We are finding that many students are talking about how tired they are, and it is evident in classes that students are feeling and looking tired. This has a direct correlation to how well they can learn and retain information, how well they can regulate their emotions and how how "well" they are feeling. Therefore, I thought I'd share some information from Kids Help Line about the benefits of sleep.
Why sleep is so important?
Getting enough sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your health and wellbeing. Find out why and what you can do to improve your sleep.
Sleep is like food for your brain
Getting enough sleep is important for your physical and mental wellbeing
Sleep lets your mind recharge and process information. It’s the only part of the day that your body gets to rest and repair.
Sleep can help you feel better, think more clearly and concentrate better. It gives you energy to complete tasks and can make you more alert.
Without enough sleep you may have problems with thinking, concentrating, memory, reaction times and mood.
How can I get more sleep?
Here are some things that may help you to sleep better:
Still having trouble sleeping?
If you're still having problems getting to sleep, staying asleep, or if you often feel tired during the day, it's important to talk with a doctor, a psychologist or sleep specialist to find out what might be going on.
