This week in Reading, we are learning the skill of  analysing  a  text. 

VOCABULARY

Analysing a text means that we are going to look at a text in detail, to help us understand more about the text and to help us form an opinion on the text.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

You can get your child to choose a book (preferably fiction) from their satchel/ or a book at home  or public library. 

 Let them read the book and then  engage in a  discussion around what your child thought of the book. If anything was funny,  if so  what was it and why?  Was it the picture, was it the words  or was it the facial expressions of the characters . There could have been the  rhyming words that sounded funny when your child  read it out loud. 

Then  they can try and classify the genre of the book.   Humor, adventure, mystery  etc.
