Respectful Relationships and Berry Street

Term 1 Respectful Relationships

Everyone in our Sacred Heart community deserves to be respected, valued and treated equally. Respectful Relationships acknowledges that all children, regardless of their age, have challenges to overcome. The teaching program aims to develop social and emotional skills appropriate to their age and maturity level. Weekly RRRR sessions are delivered by your child’s classroom teacher.  The teaching and learning activities provided in the RRRR resource align with the Victorian Curriculum. They address content descriptions and aspects of the achievement standards in both Health andPhysical Education and Personal and Social Capability.

Term 1 Topics

  • Emotional Literacy

Students develop the ability to be aware of, understand and use information about the emotional states of themselves and others.

  • Personal and Cultural Strengths

Students develop a vocabulary to help them recognise and understand strengths and positive qualities in themselves and others. They identify the values and strengths they have learnt from their families, culture, and role models, and the way this guidance helps them to treat others with respect.

Everyday Strength Cards (lesson from RRRR 3/4 Curriculum)

Our aim is for students to unpack their personal strengths and explore new ways to express them at home, in the classroom, in the playground, with their friends, and in social settings.

Home Discussion Activity

  • Share one or two strengths you see in your child or another family member.
  • Invite your child to share their strengths they see in you or their siblings.
  • How can your strengths help at home?
