Year 12 Induction Ceremony

On Tuesday 11th February  2025, the Year 12 Student Cohort, joined by their families and teachers, commemorated the beginning of their final year at Ballarat High School.

The Induction Ceremony, a Ballarat High School tradition dating back to 1956, was meticulously planned by Ms. Marshall, Ms. MacKenzie and the Student Leadership Team.

Following a welcome from the School Captains Elise Slade and Harrison Wade, the Deputy Captains, Vocational Major Leaders and Vice Captains came together to make their Captain’s Pledge to ‘accept the responsibility of representing our school in the Community and to do their best in all circumstances to maintain the honour of our school.’

Eliza Hopkinson arranged through the Ballarat High School Alumni Organisation to have two guest speakers address the students. Jett Leduc from the Class of 2024 and Matt Husthwaite from the Class of 2006.

Both Jett and Matt spoke about the importance of following one’s passions in both study and work, of the value of persistence in meeting the challenges we face and of making the most of the opportunities available in their final year at Ballarat High School.

Ms. Eppingstall, Mr. Leversha and Mr. Fields spoke emphasising the need to collaborate with each other, to build on the strong relationships that they have formed with their teachers and to celebrate their individual and collective successes.

Mr. Richard Marcollo provided exceptional technical support in the set-up of the Robinson Centre and in the AV requirements of the presentations.
