School Sport Victoria (SSV) Events
On Thursday 13th February 2025 Ballarat High School entered 3 teams (Senior Girls, Intermediate Boys & Intermediate Girls) into the SSV Eureka Senior & Intermediate Tennis competition at the Ballarat Regional Tennis Centre. It was an extremely windy day making play challenging for all players experienced or not!
The Senior Girls had two matches against Mount Clear College (3 sets, 21 games to 3 sets, 19 games) and Woodmans Hill Secondary College (4 sets, 24 games to 2 sets, 15 games). A very close match against Mount Clear College saw the BHS girls win both matches and be crowned Eureka Champions for 2025.
The Intermediate Boys had two matches against Phoenix College A (3 sets, 29 games to 3 sets, 26 games) and Phoenix College B (6 sets, 36 games to 0 sets, 3 games). The Phoenix College A team really pushed the boys to the limit with BHS just getting over the line and winning the whole competition.
Finally, the Intermediate Girls had 4 matches against Mount Clear College (4 sets, 19 games to 2 sets, 11 games), Phoenix College B (4 sets, 21 games to 2 sets, 15 games), Phoenix College A (3 sets, 19 games to 3 sets, 21 games) & Woodmans Hill Secondary College (2 sets, 8 games to 0 sets, 3 games). The team won 3 of their 4 matches but the close loss to Phoenix College A meant the girls finished runners up for the competition.
The Senior Girls and Intermediate Boys teams have now qualified for the SSV GWR Senior & Intermediate Tennis competition on Wednesday 5th March at the Ballarat Regional Athletics Centre.
