Harmony Week

Dear Parents and Carers,
Harmony Week will be proudly celebrated once again at Mackellar. Harmony Week celebrates multiculturalism and encourages inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all cultures.
On Monday 17th March, we will begin by celebrating Harmony Week with a whole school parade at our morning assembly. We are requesting that students wear cultural dress or orange to the parade and for the entire school day. Orange is the Harmony Day/Week colour because it signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to freedom of ideas and mutual respect.
Please take note of the following details:
Date: Monday 17th March
Time: 9.05am to 11.00am (Starting with Harmony Week Parade at 9.05am to 9.30am)
Location: Outdoor stage (9.05am to 9.30am whole school parade)
Following the parade, we are planning:
Cultural performances (the duration will depend on the number of performances)
Classroom activities where parents/carers may join their children until 11.00am
Cultural lunches on the same day. Students may bring a cultural lunch to share with others this year. Further information will be provided about this via XUNO, at assemblies and in our next newsletter edition.
Let's all get onboard for Harmony Week and our Monday the 17th event. If you have any questions about the day, please don't hesitate to speak to your child's teacher or our wonderful administration staff at reception.
