From the Principal's Desk

School Council

School Councils play a key role in Victorian government schools - supporting the Principal to provide the best possible educational outcomes for all students.  As our 2025 election process has now concluded I can confirm that the following people are declared elected as members of school council for the 2025 – 2027 period.

  • Parent member - Louisa Willoughby

  • Parent member – Shilpa Mattepally

  • School employee member - Carly Jamar

These three council members will join Makara Chour and Jess Tang (parent members); and myself and Michelle Sideridis (school employee members). Please note that we will also co-opt an additional community member at our next school council meeting and that person will join Mrs. Be Ha on School Council.  From time to time we do have casual vacancies on Council so please feel free to contact me if you are interested in getting involved in anyway; and remember, you can attend meetings as a visitor regardless.

Congratulations  Dildar Begum

On Wednesday, we had the honor of celebrating one of our parents (and Hub attendees) Dildar Begum, the well-deserving recipient of the Sir John Reid Community Service Award, generously presented by Rotary Melbourne. Dildar was joined at the presentation at the Sofitel in the city by her family, as well as Community Hub Leader Julie Raciti, Community Hubs Support Co-ordinator Jana Hovic, CEO of Community Hubs Australia Bec Kotow, Head of Program Julianne Gardiner and myself.

Dildar’s remarkable journey is a true inspiration, and she has been recognised for her unwavering dedication, commitment, and selfless contributions to the Springvale Rise community. Congratulations, Dildar, on this well-earned recognition!

And thank you for identifying our partner organisation AMES as the recipient of the $10,000 grant you were awarded. Know that this money will be put to great used to support our Hub programs in the coming years. Exciting times ahead!

Foundation Family Fun Days

Our annual Foundation Family Fun Days are scheduled for next week, so please pop the dates in your diaries.  All Foundation students’ parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and younger pre-school aged siblings are encouraged to attend. See your child’s teacher for further information.

Keep smiling,

Debbie Cottier
